Where Stars Are Dim

I’m immersing myself into the characters who are plotting to destroy the Intergalactic Republic in my novel. Here’s a piece of getting-into-character poetry. These people don’t ever leave me alone.

Pulled me closer
Pushed me over
I escaped the wild
When I was but a child
To be subject to the whim
Of a world where stars are dim
Threatened by existence
I found resistance

I’ll take down those who dare
To save the freedom we can share
That we need to survive
That we can’t find
From our sovereigns
Who issue coffins
To us they say they defend
When in truth they seek our end
